Ariel Gail

Prof. Gail S. Goodman holds an Distinguished Chair in Psychology at the University of California Davis and is the director of its Center for Public Policy Research. She is widely acknowledged for launching the modern science of child eyewitness memories as well as using children who have been abused to serve as witnesses in court. Professor Goodman is a prolific author who has received many prizes and grants. She consults with numerous governments and agencies across the globe regarding policy and research on children's victimization within the court system. She is a consultant at the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center, formerly The Multidisciplinary Interview Center of Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She is a part of several professional organizations, such as those of the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association (Divisions Experimental Psychology Developmental Psychology Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice American Psychology-Law Society Psychology of Traumatic Stress and Women 56). Professor Goodman is a member of Psychonomics Society Society for Research in Child Development American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (Founding Member) International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She was director of 3 divisions (Division Society for Policy on Child and Family and Practice Division American Psychology-Law Society, and Division Developmental Psychology) and one section (Child Maltreatment) of the American Psychological Association.
